In this exclusive interview with Commercial Integrator, Kurt DeYoung of Nanolumens discusses the latest trends in DVLED technology. He also highlights how Nanolumens is leaning into those trends to empower integrators to deliver dazzling outcomes. DeYoung is, of course, chief revenue officer for the LED display leader.
One trend DeYoung has his eye on is what he calls “…this really dramatic shift toward COB technologies.” He continues, “That’s definitely driving the industry for a number of different reasons.” DeYoung also points to the various creative applications that people are starting to dream up for DVLED technology. “It’s really starting to change pretty dramatically,” he declares.
Nanolumens Highlights Creative Potential of DVLED
Next, DeYoung dives into the creative potential that DVLED brings by virtue of its ability to break beyond the confines of a large rectangle on the wall. “There are so many different ways that you can use direct-view LED in very creative ways,” DeYoung declares. “And you don’t really have to think about it as a straight-up rectangle on the wall.” That can even include next-generation curved and domed applications. Thus, DeYoung asks a question that will be critical for integrators, “Can the company — your partner — really help you service a broad range of items, as opposed to just being really good at hanging rectangles on the wall?”
In fact, DeYoung describes DVLED as a kind of “digital drywall,” saying, “[We’re able to] fully integrate these pieces of technology into the architecture and really make it part of the building — part of the building environment and part of the building experience for clients and their clients.”
Later in the conversation, DeYoung talks about the necessity of ongoing service, maintenance and support, saying it comes down to a consultative sale with the client focused on their use case.
