In a heartfelt LinkedIn post by AtlasIED, the Ivey family announced the passing of Loyd Ivey, the founder of the global technology engineering and manufacturing company MiTek Corporation. Ivey started MiTek over five decades ago, fostering a culture of respect and support among employees, whom he fondly referred to as Partners. He made it a point to know each Partner personally. Ivey’s visionary spirit and passion for the electronics and communication industry have inspired Partners to create innovative life-changing technologies, products and services.
MiTek is the parent company of numerous specialized audio brands, such as AtlasIED and MTX. Ivey left a lasting impact on the commercial and consumer audio industries. He valued his relationships with colleagues, peers and industry professionals, prioritizing interaction, innovation and communication.
Ivey served as a chairman and board member of many industry associations such as the Consumer Electronics Association and Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association (CEMA). He was a member of the National Systems Contractor Association (NSCA), receiving the Foundation Founders Award as well as the NSCA Per Haugen Lifetime Achievement Award (the only member to receive both awards).
Johnathan Ivey, President of MiTek Corporation and Loyd’s son, said of his father, “Innovation was at the heart of Loyd’s legacy. He pushed boundaries, leading MiTek, AtlasIED, and MTX to develop groundbreaking products and solutions that set industry standards. Although Loyd was from humble beginnings, his passion for pushing the envelope and delivering unparalleled quality has been the cornerstone of our businesses’ and family success.”
