“A manufacturer can bring in some great product – absolutely no doubt – but the truth is they’re going to pitch what they offer, not what is best in class universally accepted in the field.”
Stross explains, “from our perspective, what we do as an integrator is we go and find the very best wares for that venue and what you do so you’re offering the venue really the ability to come out at the time they purchase their products with something completely unique, something that caters to what they want.”
“I personally believe that integrators will be struggling against manufacturers but equally I think manufacturers will be struggling against integrators,” he says.
“I think this is a very good way for teams to get a great price point because there’s competition and at the same time get great products.”
How important is it for large venues to upgrade to Ultra HD 4K and beyond?
“Ultra HD is going to become the standard and in fact with this standard the resolution that it affords creates additional real estate on the video boards and that is good news for anybody who’s trying to advertise or make money with their video boards. We need Ultra HD in the industry.
“One thing that’s become quite apparent is to operate these buildings and to pay the salaries of the players you need to be able to create additional revenue. So Ultra HD is the new way to actually find additional revenue within the existing real estate of the displays that are already in a venue. So when you really think about it, Ultra HD is not just about higher resolution it’s really about making more money with what you’ve got.
“I’m excited about it and our company is actually committed to creating the control systems that actually run Ultra HD. In fact, ours right now can go up to 8K which is a tremendous resolution and we’re very, very excited about the future.”
