Wellness Is Going to Play a Prominent Role in AV Technology Some Time Soon

Published: March 11, 2020

You’re going to start seeing—and, I hope, reading—a lot more content on CI in the coming weeks and months and maybe years about the importance of wellness and the role technology can play in that for people. [related]

And, yeah, sure, some of that is driven by the fact that CI’s parent company is now among the owners of The Well Conference, which is slated for March 29-April 1 in Scottsdale, Ariz., but the overarching reason is because it’s something your clients are going to start asking you about if they haven’t yet.

In short: you should be preparing now for the influx of opportunities you’ll likely soon see in this area. As with most other emerging trends, someone will be on the forefront. Why not let it be you?

Just like LEED-certified architects have had the advantage in securing large-scale green buildings in recent years, there’s also a certification program for buildings that maximize the wellness. I didn’t know about it until yesterday, so I don’t expect most of you did either. But now you do, so check it out.

Why Wellness Matters to AV Integrators

Wellness feels like one of those areas where we’re all going to be learning together for a while but we might as well start now, because you’ve probably noticed the makeup of your workforce is getting younger these days and those young people care a lot more about biophilia and wellness than their predecessors—like me or even my parents—did.

That means they’re only going to become more popular across corporate America as employers realize they need to transform how they do business to be able to continue to attract the top talent to their companies.

Sure, there are some things you’re probably already doing that merge technology and wellness, such as sound masking and lighting control. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t learn a lot more about wellness and how your company can benefit from it.

In the long run, it’s good for your customers—and your bottom line. What are you waiting for?
