Threads App, Meta’s new social media platform designed to compete head-to-head with Twitter launched on July 5, 2023. It’s gaining users and app downloads quickly. Threads hit 100 million uses in its first five days. It has been the buzz of the other social platforms and the news since its debut.
What is Threads?
Termed as a challenge to Twitter, Threads app allows you to share text updates and join public conversations.
According to Meta’s Newsroom, Threads “offers a new, separate space for real-time updates and public conversations. We are working toward making Threads compatible with the open, interoperable social networks that we believe can shape the future of the internet.”
Should Commercial AV Invest in Threads?
According to Brandy Alvardo-Miranda, CEO of BAM! Marketing and PR Agency, Threads is the coolest, cutting-edge social media network that has gained significant popularity among organizations in the AV community.
She says, “The platform’s unique features and functionalities make it a powerful tool for organizations to enhance their presence, engagement and productivity with their audience.” Its innovative approach to communication and collaboration thus bring a fresh perspective to the social-media landscape.
In Alvarado-Miranda’s opinion, Threads, much like its social-media competitors, allows organizations to streamline communication. It appears to be a “friendly alternative” platform that offers teams dedicated spaces for community and connection. “This structure fosters efficient and organized discussions, reducing the clutter that often plagues other social networks,” she notes.
Should #avtweeps then join this communication-centric platform? For Alvarado-Miranda, the answer is simple: yes! She explains, “It’s marketing 101…if your target audience is utilizing this platform, you should join.” Moreover, the #avtweeps community thrives on collaboration and sharing of knowledge. Naturally, Threads would be a good place to build new connections.
However, integrators must consider the value proposition of the app. This means evaluating if the app can successfully enhance and build the company’s brand as well as connect with the target audience. Thus, Alvarado-Miranda cautions that with any new service, it’s best to take a slow approach and test it out before doing a proper launch.
Using Threads
According to Alvarado-Miranda, if AV integrators and manufacturers are looking to use Threads, they should take advantage of the platform’s robust multimedia capabilities. This versatility enables companies to showcase their products, services, and achievements creatively. As a result, they can engage their target audience more effectively. Furthermore, the platform’s visual-centric approach enhances the storytelling potential for organizations, allowing them to craft compelling narratives and brand stories.
“The biggest advantage I see for Threads is their emphasize on user privacy and data security, assuring organizations that their sensitive information remains protected,” Alvarado-Miranda underscores. As the platform continues to evolve, its value for AV organizations is likely to increase. Thus, it can solidify its position as a go-to social-media network for businesses.
