Here, we spotlight Kim Jewkes, Credit Manager, Listen Technologies. Jewkes shares her journey into the AV industry, highlighting the challenges of learning a new sector and the importance of mentorship. She credits Listen Technologies’ President and CEO, Maile Keone, as an influential mentor. Interview with Kim Jewkes, Credit Manager, Listen Technologies

Commercial Integrator: How did you get into the AV industry?

Kim Jewkes: I worked in office management in automotive and healthcare before joining Listen Technologies. I knew it was a great company, and it seemed like a good fit for my skills.

CI: Have you encountered any difficulties or obstacles in your AV industry career?

Jewkes: Learning a new industry was a challenge, especially the financial side of AV and dealers versus electrical companies and tax implications. But I asked questions, learned as I went, and adapted quickly.

CI: Whom would you point to as the most influential and helpful mentors in your career? What did they do to help you?

Jewkes:  Our President and CEO, Maile Keone, has been an incredible mentor and leader. It’s inspiring to see women in top leadership roles, and she sets a great example of strength, vision and innovation. Her guidance has helped me grow in my role and feel empowered in my career.

CI: What is your proudest career accomplishment?

Jewkes: Achieving a 100% collection rate as Credit Manager over my first three years with the company. It took persistence and good communication to make it happen while keeping customer relationships strong.

CI: What do you love most about working in the AV industry?

Jewkes: I love working for a company that makes a difference by improving accessibility. Plus, the industry is always evolving, which keeps things interesting.

CI: How can the AV industry become even better?

Jewkes: By focusing on accessibility and innovation — not just for the hearing loss community, but for everyone — we can continue to improve the AV experience. Making technology easier to use and bringing in fresh ideas will help the industry grow.
