Cisco has announced new solutions designed to help customers mange their smart building environments and help organizations bring employees back to the office safely and effective, including new features to its smart cameras, a new IoT integration and more.
In a blog post outlining Cisco’s smart building offerings, the company said managing multiple systems from different vendors can be troublesome if the devices and sensors on the different systems don’t communicate.
The company says it has been working on breaking those silos for years, and now has solutions that power, connect and secure “hundreds of millions of square feet of office space” around the world.
According to Cisco, the company added advanced analytics to its Meraki MV line of smart cameras, providing customers with real-time and historical data on office, meeting room and desk usage, as well as machine-learning analytics to detect fire alarms and sirens without recording or storing audio.
The company says it has also integrated its DNA Spaces IoT Services on Catalyst 9000 switches with onboard IoT gateway and Wi-Fi Access Points, which Cisco says enables the interconnecting of hundreds of different categories of endpoints from a growing ecosystem of devices and applications partners.
“Having the IoT Gateway on both Catalyst 9000 switches and access points at the edge provides faster notification of changes or failures, which translates to faster adaptation and a more agile, safer workspace – without additional hardware!” the company said in the blog.
The company says it offers a secure foundation for smart buildings with Catalyst 9000 and Cisco Meraki 90W UPOE+ switching, Wi-Fi 6, Cisco Meraki MV smart cameras and Webex endpoints, Cisco DNA Center/Meraki dashboard and Cisco DNA Spaces.
“Security is built-in with network-based detection, including AI/ML-led classification and anomaly detection, network-based enforcement with micro/macro segmentation with SD-Access, and rapid threat control with ISE,” Cisco said.
