Mvix, a leading provider of content-rich digital signage software and solutions, gave their interactive directory line a facelift with a new minimalist UI that lists occupants by logos.
The new interactive directory is ideal for complex environments such as a large hospital campus with multiple medical centers, clinics and offices.
The most important feature in the new interactive directory is the use of logos instead of alphanumeric information e.g. Building E3, Entrance A. Most designers often assume alphanumeric labels are sufficient to guide visitors. This is not always true, especially in environments such as a hospital where stressed out patients often have limited cognitive capacity or have trouble navigating using letters and numbers alone.
Listing offices or companies by logos (instead of numbers or text) makes sure there is a distinct focus on one piece of content. This reinforces cognitive awareness, enabling guests to find destinations easily.
The logos respond to touch and display additional information such as a brief description of the office or company and contact details e.g. phone number, email. This information is displayed only when the guest interacts with the directory in order to avoid clutter.
Smooth animations were also incorporated into the new design to bring about motion and make the directory feel alive.
“We recognize the importance of engagement and being able to connect with your visitors to make a winning first impression,” said Mike Kilian, Sr. Director of Business Development. “Judging from the strong positive feedback received from our beta test, the redesigned Interactive Directory will have a marked impact in helping brands achieve this goal”
