In this exclusive Commercial Integrator interview, Christie Digital spotlights its leading command-and-control solutions: Hedra and Terra. Bill Zhu, director of product management for the company, offers detailed insights into the features and benefits of these solutions.
Christie Hedra and Terra: Features and Benefits
Christie Hedra, for example, is a videowall processor with built-in KVM functionality that’s well suited for small and medium-sized videowall processing. According to Zhu, “It’s not a Windows PC-based videowall processor. The inputs are all baseband. So, you get the highest image quality with minimal latency.” The ideal customer for Christie Hedra is a customer who really cares about image quality, security, ease of setup and reliability. “That’s the kind of customer that really appreciates the Hedra,” he adds. In fact, during the conversation, Zhu alludes to a recent project for which Hedra was critical. Christie involved itself with a large R&D lab’s control room, and the client really appreciated Hedra’s ease of use.
Christie Terra, meanwhile, is an SDVoE standard-based AV-over-IP solution. As Zhu explains, “Since COVID, more and more customers care about supply-chain resiliency. and they’re less willing to commit to a non-standard as the corporate AV distribution standard.” SDVoE is, of course, a standards-based solution, and SDVoE-compliant solutions are compatible with one another. Plus, Zhu adds, “Because it’s uncompressed, it gives you the best image quality at the lowest latency among all AV-over-IP solutions.” It does require a 10Gb switch. However, the price of 10Gb switches came down significantly in recent years.
