Verrex Opens New Hong Kong Office, Strengthens Global Presence

Published: 2017-01-09

Verrex has always been about providing its global clients with the same level of support and system design it has provided its domestic clients, and now the APEx-certified global integrator can support its global clients even further with the opening of a new Hong Kong office.

Hong Kong joins Shanghai as the second office to open in Asia and the fifth globally for Verrex.

According to the company announcement, Verrex Asia Ltd’s Hong Kong office, located in the metropolitan hub of Wan Chai, will deliver the company’s entire AV systems integration and global managed services portfolio to Hong Kong, China and other Asia Pacific markets.

The Hong Kong office will be overseen by David Kwok, business director for Verrex China/Asia Pacific, and Alex Chan, senior sales manager, CTS, for Verrex.

“The Asia Pacific region continues to be a source of unparalleled business opportunities and Hong Kong plays an important role in maximizing this region’s potential,” said Kwok in the Verrex announcement. “Our commitment to operations here is an incredible source of value to global and national organizations that have run into challenges related to standardization, adoption and support of their AV investment. Verrex is committed to be their local partner and champion throughout East Asia and around the globe.”

After Verrex closed its Hong Kong office in 2012, along with its offices in Mumbai, Shanghai, Sydney, Tokyo and Singapore in order to restructure its global presence after the recession, Verrex’s opening of a new Hong Kong office is reassurance that recalibrating its global strategy has paid off.

Despite financial difficulties after the recession, Verrex “continued to push,” said CEO Thomas Berry, Jr. in a 2015 CI profile, “because that’s what our customers needed us to do. While we found it difficult to roll out a global model, it’s what we needed to do. So you stick with it. You persevere. You survive.”

Verrex recently tweeted out a picture of Berry visiting the company’s new Hong Kong office:

Verrex strengthened its global reach even more so when it was acquired by private equity investors Five Crowns Capital in the summer of 2016, which gave the integrator the ability to compete for large-scale corporate AV projects around the world.

Berry reiterates Verrex’s tenacity in his statement regarding the opening of the new Hong Kong office:

“Over the past several years, Verrex has undergone a transformation of its global model,” said Berry. “Our ultimate goal is not a sizable footprint, but a strategic one that allows us to globalize our capabilities based on an evolving client profile. The Hong Kong market’s appetite for superior AV solutions and services told us that we needed to be on the ground here. I look forward to results from the hard work and dedication our Hong Kong team, led by David and Alex, will deliver and to their contributions to Verrex’s unified vision and mission.”
